I was planning a break anyway after Halloween–that was pretty herculean!–which the software meltdown actually imposed–but I never thought that the break would turn into a block–
So I’m spending my time cleaning & cooking & crocheting–I even have begun watching Chopped again with Mom. Last night’s episode was interesting and inspiring, but I have been asking myself a question lately–who is that guy, and what did he do with Scott Conant???? I never could stand to watch Conant, you may recall, because he was such a jerk–and now he’s doing like a Papa Bear thing???? WEIRD! (Zakarian, on the other hand, is still a jerk–just sayin’–)
AM hoping to post pics of the door hanging soon, which Mom has claimed as her Christmas present–need to get with Amanda for that–
Chopped? Seriously?! So do I, of course. Too bad we couldn’t live blog it, like the old days. I agree with you about Conant and Zakarian, although I actually have enjoyed Zakarian on The Next Iron Chef. It seems like Chopped has tried to take a little bit of a different direction lately — being kinder to the chefs — maybe they could try tweaking the baskets, too. Some of that stuff is just too hard, and then they grouse about it. Zacharian can sure cook, though. My pick for NIC is Anne Burrell, followed by Alex Guarneschelli. She turns out to be funnier than I thought — a little like me, actually. I wish I could cook like she does. They’ll probably pick a woman, especially if they’re trying to replace Kat Cora. They’re certainly heading in that direction, although I don’t know whether they’ll survive to the end without the judges killing each other.
Every year you promise those pics of the door hanging. I sure do hope this is the year.
Regards to your mom. Hope to see some new words soon. ❤
I gave up on Next Iron Chef after the second episode, when they bent the rules till they screamed for mercy over Zakarian’s ball park food that the guy with the English accent said would be served in no ball park in any known universe–then Iron Chef Symon pitching a fit in favor of Chef Chiarello’s sickly-looking green pasta, which resulted in Chef Irvine being sent home–I’ve long had a crush of sorts on Chef Irvine, although whether it’s the accent or the muscles is up for grabs– (^_^)
I really do not get it about Chef Conant, though. I hadn’t watched Chopped in ages, and the last time I saw him I wanted to go through the TV after him with a meat cleaver–he was unnecessarily snotty–Then I come back to watch with Mom and he’s almost avuncular. Maybe he grew up in the meantime???
I’m thinking NIC will come down to Guarneschelli or Falkner, though. Anne’s playing it way too safe–
